President's Message

Dear FNA members and friends,
Happy New Year 2010.
A year has gone by and we are ready not only to welcome a
new year but also a new decade.
This has been a very productive year for FNA. We had various
programs throughout the year and it has been very memorable.
We had a successful Nepali new year celebration picnic held
in Orlando on Saturday April 18. We had participants from
all over the state of Florida and a perfect weather made the
event even more joyous.
We had a successful Nepal Study Forum program. The program
was held in West Palm Beach on Saturday August 1. The topic
of the event was “Migration of Nepalese – History, Status
and Challenges Ahead”. Four distinguished speakers Dr. Hari
Pandey, Dr. Bijaya Kattel, Mr. Pramod Sharma and Dr. Sharada
Bhandary spoke on the occasion. This was eagerly attended by
local south Florida Nepalese community.
Our biggest event of the year was the Dashain party held in
Tampa on Saturday October 10. We had close to 300
participants making this the highest participated Dashain
party in the history of FNA. The local host city presented a
wonderful night with songs, dances, and a one-act play about
Dashain. The play was very informative and well presented as
it highlighted why we celebrate Dashain.
In the end I hope all of you have a very wonderful and
prosperous 2010. FNA will be holding various programs
throughout the year 2010. We will inform you about all our
events and our website will also have all the details.
